Cargo Service Dubai runs steel transport as a desk job: we confirm the load, the packing state, and the receiver in the GCC before a vehicle is assigned. If cartons are weak or the invoice is vague, we fix that in Dubai so the consignment is not the one sitting in a border queue.

What the Dubai desk needs before collection

Send a packing list, the receiver's two phone numbers, and the suburb or industrial area in the GCC. Cargo Service Dubai uses that file to pick groupage versus a dedicated vehicle and to decide whether the load can travel as-is or needs crating at our facility.

Collection windows run across the Emirates. Drop-off at the Dubai warehouse is available when you want to skip a pickup fee. Either way, intake photos sit on the booking so claims are not an argument later.

Pickup, packing, and the papers we will not skip

Cargo Service Dubai treats steel transport as a collection problem first. Weak cartons, missing invoices, and unreachable consignees in the GCC are caught in Dubai, not at the border queue.

From those answers we assign the vehicle and quote the move. If your material is still at the mill or stockist in Mussafah, Al Quoz, or Hamriyah Free Zone, we coordinate the collection slot directly with their dispatch office so your team stays out of the middle.

Where delays actually start on the way to the GCC

Share two receiver numbers and a suburb, not just a country name. Our operations thread on WhatsApp uses that pin to choose groupage versus a dedicated vehicle.

Before the truck leaves, the driver photographs the lashing pattern. That photo set protects everyone — you, us, and the receiver — if any question about handling arises later.

Papers that ride with the load

Metal shipments clear GCC borders on the strength of their paperwork. The folder we build contains:

  • Commercial invoice with tonnage, grade, and price per line item
  • Packing/bundle list matching tag numbers on the physical material
  • Mill test certificates (MTCs) — buyers and sometimes inspectors want them
  • Certificate of origin for the customs entry
  • Receiver's CR details for the Saudi import declaration
  • Weighbridge ticket from loading, so declared and actual weights agree

Weight mismatches are the classic steel problem at Al Batha: if the declaration says 24 tonnes and the axle scales say 27, the entry gets amended on the spot and the clock runs. The weighbridge ticket kills that risk before departure.

Across the border and down the highway

The truck exits the UAE at Al Ghuwaifat and presents at the Saudi post at Al Batha, where our clearing partner lodges the import entry against the pre-shared documents. Structural steel is a familiar commodity to border staff, so with clean papers the release is routine. From there the routes fan out — E-routes to Dammam and Jubail's industrial belt, the long haul to Riyadh, or onward crossings toward Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman.

Expect three to seven working days door to door for these overland runs. Heavier convoys with multiple trailers travel together so a site receives its full tonnage in one coordinated arrival rather than dribbling in across a week.

Arrival: the handover that needs planning

Offloading steel takes equipment. Before the trailer arrives we confirm with the receiver: crane or forklift capacity, slings versus magnet, laydown space, and receiving hours. Fabrication shops in Jubail and Dammam usually run their own gantries; open construction sites may need us to send a hiab-equipped vehicle instead. The consignee checks bundle tags against the packing list, signs the delivery note, and the signed copy plus final photos land in your inbox the same day.

Field tip: tag every bundle with a weatherproof label showing PO number and destination. Rain-smudged paper tags are the top reason mixed steel deliveries get sorted twice at the receiving yard.

Less than a trailer of steel?

Plenty of orders are a few tonnes, not twenty-four. Short bundles, pipe fittings, mesh panels, and fabricated brackets co-load with other industrial freight on our scheduled Saudi departures, priced by weight. It is an economical answer for fabricators topping up material mid-project. The only hard limits are length — very long single pieces still require a dedicated flat — and anything overhanging the deck, which triggers permit requirements we will flag upfront.

Booking works the same at any size: confirm the quote, receive your reference, and pay by transfer or card link. Regular shippers of steel transport volumes can move to monthly account billing after their first few loads.

Arrange your steel movement

"Twenty-two tonnes of rebar from Mussafah to our Riyadh site, and the weighbridge ticket meant zero argument at the border. The convoy arrived together on day five, crane slot pre-booked. Textbook."

Yousef H., site engineer, Riyadh residential project

"We ship galvanized sections to Jubail fabricators monthly. The webbing-with-edge-protection detail matters — earlier carriers chained straight over the coating and every load arrived scarred. These arrive clean."

Anita R., exports coordinator, steel stockist

"Only needed four tonnes of pipe and mesh topped up mid-project. It rode a shared departure to Dammam, cost a fraction of a full trailer, and the tracking pings told me exactly when to book the forklift."

Khalid W., fabrication shop owner

Steel shipping questions, answered

Is Cargo Service Dubai a different company from the Star Shipping pages?

It is the same Dubai operations team and the same pickup numbers, published on cargoservicedubai.com with booking-desk copy written for this domain. Quotes, collection, and delivery to the GCC are handled from the Ras Al Khor office. Use this site if you found us as Cargo Service Dubai; WhatsApp +971 58 936 0016 either way.

Can I send a small quantity — a few tonnes or less?

Yes. Short bundles, fittings, and fabricated pieces co-load on scheduled Gulf departures and are billed by weight, so a four-tonne top-up order stays affordable. Long single lengths are the exception; anything that cannot co-load safely gets its own flatbed, which we price transparently.

How do I book, and when do I pay?

Send material type, tonnage, and longest piece on WhatsApp or the form. You get a written quote; confirming it books the trailer and issues a reference. Payment is by bank transfer or card link — typically on booking for first-time shippers, monthly account terms for regulars.

How long does the road journey take?

Three to seven working days covers most GCC destinations, with Dammam and Jubail toward the quicker end and deep-Kingdom sites later in the window. Verified weights and complete mill certificates are what hold a steel load to the fast side of that range.

Does steel need packing, or does it ship bare?

Structural sections travel bare on dunnage with chain lashing. Coated, galvanized, or stainless material needs edge protectors and webbing to preserve the finish, and coils need cradles or chocks. Machined or fabricated components with tight tolerances should be crated — we advise per item at booking.

Will I know where my load is during transit?

Yes. You receive status messages at departure, border arrival, customs release, and out-for-delivery, plus loading and offloading photos. Between milestones, a WhatsApp message to our ops number gets you the truck's current position within minutes.
