Jeddah Customs Clearance Guide

Jeddah Islamic Port is Saudi Arabia's largest seaport and processes over 60% of the Kingdom's imports. Understanding the clearance process helps avoid costly demurrage and delays.

Required Documents

Commercial invoice (Arabic or bilingual), packing list, bill of lading or air waybill, Certificate of Origin, SABER certificate for regulated goods, and import permit if required for your product category.

Saudi Customs Duties

Standard customs duty is 5% of CIF value for most goods. GCC-manufactured goods enter duty-free. Some categories (tobacco, alcohol, restricted goods) have higher duties or are prohibited.

The Clearance Process

1. Submit e-declaration on the Nakheel system. 2. Pay customs duties and VAT (15%). 3. Saudi Customs may select for inspection (Green, Yellow, or Red channel). 4. Release cargo for last-mile delivery to Jeddah address.

Common Reasons for Holds

Wrong HS code, missing SABER certificate, value understatement, incorrect or missing Certificate of Origin, and prohibited items in the same container.
